Crocodile Monitoring
Satellite tagging and tissue collection of saltwater crocodiles in Cape York
Crocodiles are listed as vulnerable in Queensland, pose a safety risk to people, and are the top predators in the landscape.
People For Wildlife is undertaking scientific research to learn more about this species on Apudthama. People For Wildlife is capturing crocodiles to collect genetic data and fit them with satellite trackers to better understand their movements.
We need to better understand the population size, nesting ecology, movement and dispersal of the species in Cape York
We are quantifying crocodile habitat use, nest predation, and the frequency of maternal nest visitation. We are also monitoring the crocodile population across the reserve to assess riverine ecosystem health.
