To better understand these animals on Apudthama, People For Wildlife is:
  • Fitting satellite trackers to crocodiles within isolated sand dune lakes and on animals utilise turtle breeding ground on crab island, to under their seasonal movement patterns.
  • Collaborating with the Sydney Institute of Marine Science and University of Sunshine Coast to establish an array of acoustic receivers to monitoring crocodile movements along the Cape York coastline.

  • Undertaking annual population surveys to assess population health and demography of crocodiles within major river systems
  • Surveying for crocodile nests to understanding nesting habitat, and using camera traps at these nests to assess hatching success, maternal visitation, and predation
